Halloween or Thanksgiving Center for 2nd/3rd Grade (Melodic)

Picked up these cute Thanksgiving place cards at a local craft store and they can be used throughout October and November in your centers. This set is made with 2nd grade in mind, but could also be a easy review for older students.

I wrote stick notation on the front for students to practice “do.” Simple patterns that we’ve practice in class already.

On the back I wrote the SAME melodic line in 2 line staff notation.

Students should pick a card and look at the stick notation – sing that melody. Then flip it over and sing the melody with the staff notation. If they finish and need a challenge, they can mix them up and then sing staff notation first. Or, they can line up 4 pumpkins in a row and sing it as a 4 ‘measure’ phrase.
